Beginner Quilting – Start to Finish with Precuts is a beginner quilting class for those with minimal or very basic sewing and cutting experience. This is a course intended for the absolute beginner quilting students, especially those interested in trying quilting without a huge equipment investment. This is a 100% guilt-free quilting class.

This class is a crash course intended to get beginner students up and running quickly. This course will increase your basic and fundamental understanding of the basics of quilting, the basics of appliqué, basic block construction, matching points, nesting seams, quilt top construction, creating the basic quilt sandwich, basic machine quilting, and basic quilt binding.

This course will complete: 9 basic quilt blocks to combine to complete 1 small quilt from precut fabrics.

What this course is not

This course is a basic overview of quilting using basic materials and tools available to consumers at a variety of stores or around the house. This class is NOT intended to make you an expert quilter. This is a foundational class only to allow you to learn the basics of quilting with minimal investment.

This class is NOT intended to make you an expert quilter. You will not be prepared to cut your own quilting materials using current techniques. This is to allow you to learn the basics of quilting–start to finish–with minimal investment. The textbook does cover cutting techniques or you may take a Quilt Cutting Crash Course.

This course is not a free-for-all and “attend if you feel like it” course. Each lesson builds on skills from a previous lesson. Attendance is expected. There will be no refunds for missed classes. Please register for a FREE SEW EVENT to make up missed class(es) or schedule a private lesson for additional instruction.

What do all the fees cover?

Your course fee covers 90-minutes of instruction for 8 weeks and worksheets as needed. This includes the in-class use of tools and equipment, including sewing machines, irons, scissors, etc. This includes the use of thread and needles on classroom machines.

Your materials kit fee covers all supplies and materials required to complete the selected quilt project. This includes fabric, batting, etc.

The textbook is required. This book selection will have additional information helpful to beginner students and is recommended as a reference. The book includes additional quilting projects for extra practice. This book will be used for Beginner Quilting – Start to Finish with Precuts and Beginner Quilting – Start to Finish.
