When you schedule sewing lessons, please keep the following in mind.
All classes are in-person.
All classes are held at the student’s home or an approved location of choice.‡
All sewing students must purchase their own sewing machine before their third lesson. Each student should have their own machine. While machines are similar, I like them to learn on the machine they will use independently. If you do not own a machine, loaner machines will be provided for 2 classes only.§ Recommendations will be given based on the student’s sewing aspirations.
All sewing machines must be in good working order; please get all machines serviced before classes begin. I recommend Mr. Sewing Machine in Dallas, but other service shops are available and acceptable.
All students must obtain basic sewing tools. These include, but are not limited to, fabric scissors, general use scissors, seam rippers, straight pins, and sewing needles. These items must be available for sewing lessons. Some items may be shared, but in general, all students should have their own. The instructor will have all the appropriate tools for each lesson, but students should build their own sewing toolkits as lessons progress.
Sewing lessons have required materials to complete the projects. These will be available in project kits for purchase. The materials kit prices vary based on the projects. All beginner students are required to purchase project kits. This ensures that all materials are available for lessons. Kits cannot be shared. Advanced students will have more flexibility.
‡ Some restrictions apply due to the instructor’s allergies and health issues. Non-smoking and cat-free locations are required.
§ Additional use of instructor-provided machines past 2 lessons will incur an additional $25 usage fee per lesson.
