Sewing Machine Crash Course is a sewing machine boot-camp. It is intended to get the absolute beginner sewist operating their sewing machine very quickly. Perfect for sewists of all ages (8+) whether they have never used a sewing machine before or have not used a sewing machine in 10+ years.
This course is HIGHLY ENCOURAGED for ALL PARENTS of students 17-years-old or younger. Students with basic support at home tend to learn faster and have more confidence because parents are able to diagnose and fix basic problems that may arise during practice time. What this course is not
This course is a basic overview of sewing with a sewing machine using basic materials and tools available to consumers at a variety of stores or around the house. This class is NOT intended to make you an expert seamstress. This is a foundational class only to allow you to learn the basics of using a sewing machine with minimal investment.
This class is not intended to cover your specific sewing machine. Many sewing machines work in a similar fashion and we will use the machines found in the Stacey Sansom Designs sewing studio for practice. It is recommended that you select a machine that is similar to one that you have at home if available. If you need machine specific instruction, please contact Stacey Sansom Designs directly to sign up for a private lesson.
This course is not a free-for-all and attend if you feel like it course. Each lesson builds on skills from a previous lesson. Attendance is expected. There will be no refunds for missed classes. Please register for a FREE SEW EVENT to make up missed class(es) or schedule a private lesson for additional instruction.
What do all the fees cover?
Your course fee covers 3-hours of instruction and practice worksheets as needed. It covers all in-class use of machines and tools, including the use of thread and needles on classroom machines. This course also includes all supplies and materials required to complete the selected sewing project. This includes fabric, thread, notions, and other materials to complete the class project.
Your materials kit fee is included in your course fee.
The textbook is recommended. This book selection will have additional information helpful to beginner students, especially children, and is recommended as a reference if they get stuck. The book includes additional practice pages that can be duplicated and used for additional practice. It also contains 15 additional projects for sewing practice. Please note that I do not teach their particular technique for producing certain items in the book, however, it is a viable resource for budding sewists.
